NORTH LAS VEGAS -- North Las Vegas police have arrested a 36- year-old woman was on child abuse charges in connection with an investigation into a 4-year-old girl who was found locked in her room at a local apartment complex on Tuesday.

Officers responded to an apartment at 1200 W. Cheyenne Avenue Tuesday at approximately 1:45 p.m. to a call about a child who was found by apartment personnel alone in her apartment. She was reportedly locked in her bedroom.

She had sustained multiple injuries, both old and new, to her head, neck, torso, and legs. None of the injuries appeared to be life threatening. The child was transported to UMC for treatment.

Authorities say that the girl’s mother, Laketha Moore, allegedly left her daughter tied to the bed by her ankle and locked in a bedroom in their apartment for several hours a day for five to seven days a week since February 5, 2013.

Moore would reportedly leave the apartment for as much as 10 to 12 hours a day, leaving the child alone.

The report alleges the girl was left with little to eat or drink in the room and no access to the bathroom.

Evidence suggests that the child suffered multiple instances of physical abuse with a belt during that same time period. No one else lived in the apartment with Moore and her daughter.

Moore was booked into the Las Vegas City Jail on 31 felony counts of child abuse.

The child was treated for her injuries and released to Child Protective Services.
