LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has released the name of the officer who returned fire at a suspect Monday morning.

Officer Kelly Holloway, 24, was responding to a call just before 2 a.m. in the 4600 block of East Charleston when he saw an altercation outside a business. Holloway observed a male subject, later identified as Angel Montoya, run toward a back of the business.

As Holloway followed and exited the patrol vehicle, Montoya produced a handgun and fired at him, striking the patrol vehicle. Holloway, who was not injured, returned fire.

Montoya was uninjured and was taken into custody by other officers without further incident.

Holloway, who was accepted as a Metro police recruit in September 2009, is currently assigned to Northeast Area Command, Patrol Division.
