LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Metro police say a homeowner interrupted a burglary in progress was beaten to death and stuffed in the trunk of his car before his house was set on fire.

Daniel Giliberto, 49, was found dead early Tuesday morning at his home near Eastern and Warm Springs.

Metro detectives say the suspect or suspects entered Giliberto's house through a window and believe he returned home while a burglary was taking place.

The coroner's office says Giliberto died from blunt force trauma to his head.

Robin Barnes says she doesn't feel safe and wants to move.

“I have a 7-year-old daughter,” she said. A “neighborhood full of robberies and now murder, I don’t like it at all. That's the world we live in right now.”

Across the street, Michelle Holmes, whose home has been burglarized before, was shaken up to learn this incident escalated to death.

“This neighborhood had its share of criminal activity, and it's disturbing,” she said.
