LAS VEGAS -- When it comes to how well we take care of our children, Nevada earned a "D" grade.

The Children's Advocacy Alliance released its report card today with more evidence that Nevada’s children are still suffering through the state's great recession.

As News 3's Christine Kim explains, our ranking is pretty consistent with that from two years ago without much improvement.

Why is the state taking all the hits, they did not have these children, what about the parents. Its time for parents to take personal responsibility for their children and help the state in dealing with them.

The power went out at the school last Monday. There has been no heat in the classrooms this week with temperatures in the 30's.

Doesn't surprise me about the grade for education. Ruby Thomas Elementary is currently having classes with students wearing coats, hats, and mittens. Roughly half of the classrooms in this outdoor campus style school have no heat. The heaters have apparently not been working since Monday when there was a power outage for an hour and a half at the school. With the cold temperatures that Las Vegas is currently having it is impossible for these children to learn in classrooms with no heat.
