LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Occupy Las Vegas protesters have until midnight tonight to leave their encampment near the Thomas & Mack Center.
Clark County officials have refused to renew the protesters’ license to stay on the land, which Occupy Las Vegas obtained October of last year. Officials cite an increase in theft, drug use, uncleanliness, rowdiness, and homeless activity in the area as reasons to not renew the license.
Kristal Glass, one of Occupy Las Vegas’ original organizers, said that the group became too unruly – a problem she says occurred nationwide – because residents other than the original occupy protesters moved in.
Despite the eviction, Occupiers plan to continue with protests throughout the city, including a February 29 protest planned to take place outside of Walmart and NV Energy in conjunction with a planned nationwide protest.
