LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- The Southern Nevada SCORE Team is calling Wednesday night’s discovery of a marijuana grow operation the biggest in its history.
Detectives served a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the 3300 block of Trickling Stream Circle, near Desert Inn and Fort Apache. They were able to seize 1,481 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of approximately $4.5 million and nearly $30,000.
An unknown substance kept SWAT officers early on from entering the residence.
Two adults, a male and female, were arrested as they attempted to flee the scene. Police initially had trouble identifying them and called them John and Jane Doe.
The male suspect has since been identified as Chang Zheng and the female suspect has been identfied as Quig Chen.
They have been booked into the Clark County Detention Center and are facing charges of maintaining a house for the sale of narcotics, conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell.
This is the third marijuana grow house discovered in the area this year.
Last year, the southern Nevada marijuana enforcement team reported busting 142 indoor marijuana growing operations, and seizing more than 8,500 plants and 195 firearms.
