MOUNT CHARLESTON (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Two fires ignited by dry lightning Saturday afternoon in the Mount Charleston area are still burning as of 4:30 Sunday afternoon.

About 18 acres of land managed by the Bureau of Land Management has been consumed by the fires.

Hillary Patton of the BLM said the fires are in the LaMadre Wilderness Area. The Harris fire has been contained after burning 11.5 acres while the Prospect fire has consumed about 7 acres and is not contained. It grew in size from 3 acres at noon Sunday.

The Harris fire is being fought by two Nevada Division of Forestry crews, a helicopter, two fire engines and other equipment while one NDF crew and two engines are being used on the Prospect fire.

Patton reminded people that fire restrictions remain in place on federal land in Southern Nevada because of dry conditions.
