LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- One person is dead this afternoon after a multi-vehicle crash in front of the Palms Casino.

According to Metro, the driver operating a gray, four-door vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Flamingo. When she got to the intersection of the Palms by Wynn Road, she turned left but made a hard U-turn into the parking lot of the Gold Coast Casino.

She then went through the parking lot and drove over the sidewalk back into the intersection of Flamingo and Wynn. The car flipped and hit a white four-door car traveling westbound on Flamingo.

The driver of the gray car was transported to UMC, where she died.

There is no word yet on the condition of the driver in the white car.

This is Metro’s first fatality of 2013.

Flamingo between Arville and Valley View is shut down as officers investigate the crash. Officials expect this area to remain closed for several hours.

Check back for updates.
