LAS VEGAS (Las Vegas Sun) — Metro Police patrol officers uncovered a marijuana grow operation with more than 100 marijuana plants inside a home near Durango Drive and Elkhorn Road in northwest Las Vegas on Thursday.
Police officials said the officers stumbled upon the grow operation while investigating a report of a suspicious situation on the 9000 block of Mossy Hollow Avenue. A homeowner told officers that two unwanted people were upstairs hiding in a bedroom.
The officers didn’t find anyone in the home, but they came across 109 mature marijuana plants worth an estimated $381,000, officials said. They also found numerous pieces of grow house equipment.
The officers arrested the homeowner, Jared Devin Ries, 32, for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. Ries was also arrested in 2009 on charges of possession of marijuana.
