LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Too often, cars and pedestrians are a dangerous combination. Forty people died last year trying to cross the street.
Local law enforcement vows to do better in 2013.
Police say they'll really be out in force on Monday when more than 3000,000 students head back to class after the long winter break.
“I think what law enforcement would like to see this coming year is a change in the driving culture of Las Vegas,” said North Las Vegas Police Officer Chrissy Coon. “We would like to see both drivers and pedestrians act more cautiously and treat each other with compassion, share the responsibility on the roadway.”
School zone speed limits are back in effect on Monday. If you are pulled over in those areas, tickets can be upwards of $300.
