LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- It's a big game and a big weekend for Las Vegas.

As many as 311,000 people are expected to be in town for Super Bowl XLVII. And along with the fun, comes a warning from local police.

Officers will be out in force looking for drunk drivers this weekend.

Most law enforcement agencies will combine efforts to conduct sobriety checkpoints in several locations in the Las Vegas Valley.

In Las Vegas, one checkpoint will be at Boulder Highway and Mayorga, which has been a high-traffic area for accidents and impaired drivers.

Last year there were three fatal accident in Nevada on Super Bowl weekend with two of those in Clark County.

Last year, 258 people were killed in motor vehicle accidents on Nevada roads and alcohol was a contributing factor in 42 deaths, according to the Nevada Department of Public Safety.

News 3's Denise Rosch is near I-15 and Lake Mead with more.
