LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- There is a brighter outlook for Nevada’s workforce as the number of people out of work and looking for a job in October fell to its lowest level in three and a half years.

That's good news for those who have been hard at work looking for a job. Although our number has been steadily dropping our unemployment rate still tops the nation.

News 3's Sergio Avila spoke to the state's top economist who says October was a pretty good month for hiring.

The number of people out of work fell last month, and will continue to do so, because places are hiring seasonal workers, most of whom are only being hired on part-time, on-call, or temporary, so the numbers of jobless people will probably jump back up come January, after the holidays are over. None, or very few of these jobs carry any benefits, so people are having to work 2-3 jobs just to make ends meet. Sorry, but I meet these people on a daily basis, so I'm not excited about the decrease in the jobless rate at this time of year!
