Power out for thousands of NV Energy customers

LAS VEGAS (Las Vegas Sun) -- UPDATE: As of 5 p.m. power has been restored to all customers in the area according to NV Energy.

A power outage near Desert Inn Road and Maryland Parkway left more than 3,500 NV Energy customers without electricity at 1:30 p.m.

UPDATE: As of 3:30 p.m. there were still 1,259 without power according to NV Energy spokeswoman. The power outage was due to equipment failure.

NV Energy officials said crews are working to restore power, but there is no timetable for when the problem will be fixed.

Officials said there is no indication as to what caused the outage.

They want everyone to conserve, then raise the rates for lack of revenue! RIPOFF!

Maybe NV energy can get more money from the government, like the $156 million they got from the stimulus to fix the problem. NV. ENERGY SUCKS and FINANCIALLY RAPES THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!
