BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Lake Mead National Recreation Area Fire Management Team will conduct two prescribed burns within the next two weeks to restore the landscape to a natural state and to reduce wildfire hazards.

One burn will be implemented in a five-acre area east of Cottonwood Cove in Arizona. The second burn will be in a two-acre area near Las Vegas Bay.

The dates of the burns will be dependent on weather conditions, but they will be conducted during the work week when park visitation is at lower levels. Smoke impacts should be minimal, and no closures are required.

If visitors observe burn operations, they should remain 200 feet away. Fire personnel will be on site to monitor the burns.
