LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- The Nevada Taxicab Authority is considering a pilot program that would place GPS systems into taxis to try and curb long-hauling, the practice of taking visitors the long way to jack up a fare.

But the proposal has already hit a road block.

The yellow checker star taxi company, in a brief, says it will oppose and sue to stop the program because they believe the makers of the software circumvented requirements for competitive bidding.

The developer, Frias Transportation Infrastructure, says it doesn't apply to pilot programs.

Last year, 120 citations were issued for long-hauling.
