LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A Las Vegas real estate firm will be rebuilding one of its three offices in the wake of a fire this morning that damaged nearly 20,000 square feet of office space on West Sahara Avenue.

No injuries were reported in a three-alarm fire that broke out about 3:30 a.m. at 8290 West Sahara Ave.

"We had planned to do some remodeling, so the fire just forced the issue a bit," Bob Hamrick, chairman and CEO of Coldwell Banker-Premier, said this morning as he surveyed the damage to the two-story structure. "About 40 staffers and 120 agents worked here and are displaced so they will be housed in our two other locations in the valley while we clean up and rebuild."

In a twist of fate, the firm was celebrating its 18th anniversary of doing business in the valley this weekend, Hamrick said.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue firefighters responded to the fire and encountered heavy smoke, according to a news release. Dense smoke made it difficult to find the source of the fire. It was determined that the fire was in a void area that separates the first and second floors so firefighters had to cut into the floor to get to the fire. By that time, the fire had spread to several areas and more thick smoke made the search even more difficult.

A second alarm was called to assist the first arriving crews and later a third alarm was dispatched to relieve the first-alarm firefighters. The fire did flare up in different hidden places and firefighters were still on the scene late this morning to check for embers.

Hamrick said fire officials told him that arson had been ruled out and that inspectors were leaning toward an electrical issue as the likely source of the fire. The cause remains under investigation. No damage assessment was available.
