LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- The body of missing Las Vegas cab driver Keith Goldberg has been found exactly a year after a volunteer search & rescue unit started searching.

Goldberg went missing in January 2012. His ex-girlfriend and her estranged husband have been charged with his murder.

The body was actually found in Lake Mead two weeks ago, but Red Rock Search & Rescue officials had to wait for DNA results to verify the identity.

The announcement was made on red Rock's Facebook page, reading in part:

RED ROCK SEARCH AND RESCUE FINDS KEITH GOLDBERG!!!
After one year of searching we found Keith.... More details to follow, but the important thing is the Goldberg family has peace now and are extremely happy to have their Son and Brother to take home where he belongs....."

Red Rock Search & Rescue conducted several searches for Goldberg's body during the year including Lake Las Vegas, Three Kids Mine and remote desert areas.

Dave Cummings, the commander of the search & rescue unit, had been trying to get into Lake Mead for the past six months because of evidence, Goldberg's eyeglasses, found near the lake.

The National Park Service requires search teams to carry $1 million in liability insurance in order to conduct a search, which kept a lake search from being conducted until recently. The unit was able to find somebody to insure the team which allowed the search.

"It took us two hours to find him after we got into the lake after waiting six months to get approval to search there," Cummings said.
