LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Social networks are places to connect with friends;, however, avoid a connection with a scammer.

Emails may have links to download Malware.

This Rip-Off Alert comes from the Better Business Bureau.

Con artists are tapping into personal data through social websites by sending victims emails.

The emails address you, but the content may be strange and asks you to click on a website.

That could send Malware to your computer.

BBB advises that you take a close look at your privacy settings to be sure you aren't sharing personal information with strangers.

And don't click on suspicious links -- even if they're from friends.
