LAS VEGAS (KSNV & MyNews3) -- The Las Vegas Boy Scout who died of a gunshot wound at a camp in San Diego on Monday has been identified as William Shook.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office released his name this afternoon.
Shook, 12, was the son of Las Vegas attorneys John Shook and Julie Shook, a deputy Clark County district attorney.
The boy died in his tent at the camp Monday morning. Police are investigating and have not said yet if the shooting was self-inflicted or accidental.
The boy’s father, John Shook, accompanied Las Vegas Troop 50 on the one-week aquatics camp and was still in San Diego.
An official with the Clark County School District told News 3 that William was a student at Wasden Elementary.
A person answering the phone at the Shook & Stone law firm said the office had no comment at this time.
