LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- A search effort trying to find two missing boaters at Lake Mead has been scaled back.

"We have a National Park Service boat and two Nevada of Division of Wildlife boats on the lake today," Lake Mead National Recreation Area spokesman Christie Vanover told News 3. "There are no ground or air searchers involved."

Sunday's search efforts ended about 4 p.m. and will resume Monday morning, Vanover said, noting crews will search high probability areas about seven to eight hours a day for the next seven days.

About 100 people searched Saturday in an area covered more than 30,000 acres by land, sea and air.

Three fishermen were reported missing Thursday night when they failed to check in with family members, Vanover said. That prompted a search that began Friday in the Echo Bay area of the lake.

A body was found about 2 p.m. Friday about a half-mile north of the party's overturned boat that was found near a shoreline.

The Clark County coroner's office declared the man dead at 5 p.m. Friday and he was identified Saturday s 48-year-old Oscar Dixon Jr. of North Las Vegas.

The National Park Service and Nevada Department of Wildlife are conducting a joint investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
