LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- The Clark County School Board is meeting today to discuss what to do about the vacant superintendent position.
Dwight Jones announced March 5 that he is leaving his post midway through a four-year contract in order to care for his sick mother.
The board voted Thursday to name Pat Skorkowsky interim superintendent. He'll take over when Jones leaves March 22.
Skorkowsky is a 25-year veteran of Clark County schools and has served as a teacher, principal, and most recently, deputy superintendent.
Skorkowsky will be allowed to apply for the permanent position.
