LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- Several movie, television and sports stars came out Saturday to lobby for their candidate in the presidential election.
On the Democratic side, former basketball star Earvin "Magic" Johnson spoke out for President Barack Obama at a noon rally in the Asian-American community at Chinatown Plaza, 4255 Spring Mountain Rd. He was joined by actress Kimora Lee and two members of the U.S. House of Representatives, Judy Chu and Mike Honda. Both are from California. Johnson played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1980s before retiring in the early 1990s after becoming HIV positive.
On the Republican side, television actors Kelsey Grammer and John Ratzenberger were joined by movie star Jon Voight at at Team Nevada rally for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney shortly after 2 p.m. at the Las Vegas GOP headquarters on West Tropicana. Grammer is perhaps best known for his role on "Frasier" and a number of other shows while Ratzenberger starred on "Cheers."
The Democrats have more stars scheduled for two Sunday events.
Jon Hamm, Rachel Leigh Cook, John Cho, Bryan Greenberg, Ben McKenzie, Zach Quinto, Jennifer Westfeldt, Stephanie March and Nick Zano are scheduled to appear at an early vote rally at 2 p.m. at the YMCA at 4141 Meadows Lane.
