Two pedestrians killed in weekend accidents identified

LAS VEGAS (KSNV -- The Clark County coroner's office has identified two pedestrians killed in separate traffic accidents this weekend.

A pedestrian, 48-year-old Soheil Nasiri from Carlsbad, Calif., was killed at 3:11 a.m. Sunday when he stepped into a roadway near Tropicana Avenue and Ocean Drive and was hit by a taxi.

Nasiri was taken to UMC Trauma and later died of his injuries. No other drivers or passengers involved were injured.

In a Friday accident about 11 p.m., 57-year-old Maria Ramirez-Cuadra of Las Vegas was killed when she was hit by a 1993 Cadillac as she tried to cross Pecos Road outside of a crosswalk about 250 feet south of East Lake Mead Boulevard.

The deaths were the 75th and 76th traffic fatalities in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
