A 12 hour shift for 5 days a week is way too long. That's 60 hours a week of near catastrophic misses from tourists nonchalantly walking right in front of the cabs. That's 60 hours of week of sitting in bumper to bumper traffic and being to tired that you just want to sleep (especially during the grave yard shift). The owners of these companies are greedy and sadistic.I hope the strike continues. Persistance will pay off.

I have a friend who has been driving for almost 20 years. In 1995, they made approx $70k by their W2, in 2001 when I worked for YCS they highest paid driver from 2000's W2s was approx $55k. The last few years, from talks with drivers, their W2s have been more the $26-32k range. So in the last 15-20 years, while gas prices have more than doubled, food prices have increased, utilities bills (I think) have more than doubled, Dr.'s, DDS's and everything else have raised prices, taxi drivers are making less than half of what they made previously. Makes you wonder right?

A good majority ? You know not what you speak of. Yeah the airport is full of long haulers (the majority), but ever wonder why so many drivers dont work the airport ? Because they dont wanna long haul.

Kind of funny... Shows no one really cares about their stupid strike! Although I wished it had hurt the taxi companies so bad that most would have gone broke!

If the cab union is so great, then why don't they buy Yellow Cab and run it. A good majority of cab drivers lack integrity otherwise they would get the support they are looking for.
