LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Veterans Day is just around the corner, and this weekend there are a number of ways you can celebrate our nation’s heroes, of which there are more than 200,000 in southern Nevada.

The Wounded Warriors project will arrive at McCarran International Airport this afternoon.

A special plane set aside for this excursion has picked up more than 60 wounded veterans starting in New York City. They're being given the royal treatment on the Strip.

At Nellis Air Force Base, officials there will be celebrating the 71 years of flying there with the airshow Aviation Nation.

The event is open to the public and will feature many aircrafts. But Col. Stephen Waller said looming defense cuts could ground the event.

“It would be great for folks to come out and see this event this weekend because it is possible that with further cuts that we may not have an airshow next year or in the coming years,” he said.
