LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) –
One woman is dead and another is in custody after a stabbing Tuesday night outside a bar in the 3500 block of South Maryland Parkway.
According to a Metro news release and police report, patrol officers responded to the business to investigate reports of a fight in the parking lot. Arriving patrol officers discovered an adult female suffering from apparent stab wounds and another adult female being detained by a patron of the business.
The injured female was transported to the Sunrise Trauma Center where she was later pronounced deceased. The second female, later identified as 22-year-old Sarah Chavez, was taken into custody without incident.
The preliminary investigation initiated by detectives revealed that Chavez and the victim had been involved in an argument that turned into a physical altercation inside of the bar. The fight progressed into a rear parking lot where it was broken up by another citizen. During the fight the victim appeared to have suffered apparent stab wounds.
As a result of the investigation, Chavez was arrested for murder with a deadly weapon and was transported to the Clark County Detention Center.
The identity of the deceased victim as well as the cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
