NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- After spending nearly two years as the North Las Vegas city manager, Tim Hacker resigned from his post.

Newly seated North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee received a resignation letter Wednesday from Hacker.

Lee says this was Hacker's personal decision.

During Hacker's tenure, the city faced financial troubles and he developed a tense relationship with the unions.

In June, the Police Supervisor's Association voted to voice no confidence in hacker.

North Las Vegas Police Department Sgt. Leonard Cardinale says he's encouraged a new city manager will improve the relationship between city leaders and employees.

“I don’t wish him bad as well, but I think it's good for the city and Police Department that Tim Hacker decided to move on,” he said.

North Las Vegas Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan will serve as interim city manager.
