LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- A local breast cancer survivor is sharing her story as she battles disease once again -- this time uterine cancer.

Annette Stefano, 88, says the cancer spread to her liver, but she's not letting that bring her down and she wants to push other patients to do the same.

The American Cancer Society estimates nearly 14,000 people in Nevada will be diagnosed with cancer this year, and an additional 4,700 will die of the disease.

Stefano said she believes supporting cancer research is the way to bring hope to those battling cancer and is encouraging everyone to try and donate.

She also says even though she's in her golden years, she will push for time.

“You have to be out there to live your life,” she said. “Message to seniors: Don’t give up hope. We gave a lifetime to our families and husbands; now it’s your time. You have to live, so try to stay alive do everything possible that we need to do, and that's what I’m trying to do.”

Stefano says she's not counting the years but she wants to live long enough to see her three granddaughters get married.
