NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) — North Las Vegas is the latest local municipality to open up to the medical marijuana industry.

The City Council on Wednesday night adopted its first medical marijuana ordinance on land use and zoning rules.

A separate ordinance also was introduced that lays out the ground rules for businesses.

The new regulations relax some requirements. An earlier draft restricting dispensary hours of operation and forcing dispensaries to be at least 1,500 feet from hotel-casinos were eliminated.

The new draft also keeps some earlier provisions: limiting dispensary ad campaigns and prohibiting drive-thru windows.

Final action for the business license ordinance is set for next month. A public hearing is scheduled for July 2.
