DAYTON, Ohio -- For the last time, three men raised a glass to a successful mission and 76 of their fellow airmen.

"Gentlemen, I propose a toast to those we lost on the mission and to those who have passed away since," said Lt. Col. Richard Cole, a retired Air Force airmen and one of the Doolittle Raiders. "Thank you very much and may they rest in peace."

Lt. Col. Robert Hite was unable to make the ceremony but watched from his home in Nashville, Tenn.

Their names, read before every annual gathering since 1946, are forever enshrined on the goblets.

For the last time, the three men drink in memory of the mission that helped turn the tide of the war in the Pacific Ocean decades ago.
