New Nevada assemblyman hits ground running in Carson City

CARSON CITY, Nev. -- (KSNV & MyNews3) -- The man stepping in to take Steven Brooks' seat in the Nevada assembly got to work earlier than expected.

Tyrone Thompson hit the ground running today in Carson City.

News 3 capitol correspondent Mackenzie Warren caught up with Nevada's newest lawmaker on day one.

Thompson is the newest freshmen to join the Nevada legislature and takes over in District 17. The seat formally held by Steven Brooks.

"I'm just really lookin forward to it," Thompso said. "Orientation is today and a few more days so I am just ready to get my feet wet and keep going."

Thompson's colleagues already know his name. Now his constituents in North Las Vegas will too.
