CARSON CITY (KSNV & KRNV) -- Law enforcement officials in Carson City have announced the discovery of a body that they believe may be that of state insurance examiner William McCune, who had been missing since Thursday.
Four suspects from the Carson City area have been arrested and charged in connection with the case. Three of the arrests were made this morning on the Las Vegas Strip while another was arrested early Saturday morning in Carson City.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said investigators weren't sure of the motive for the crime or the relationship of those arrested to the victim.
According to police reports, Sheriff's Search and Rescue teams found a wrapped body in the Carson River, south of Carson River Road at 8:10 a.m. today. The body was then taken to Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office, where it will be autopsied. The person has not been fully identified, but officials have indicated that they believe it to be McCune.
On Friday morning, the Carson City sheriff's office performed a welfare check at McCune's home on Silver Oak Drive in Carson city after reports that McCune had missed work and a scheduled flight on Thursday. When deputies arrived the home was unoccupied, but a search made them believe that a severe struggle had taken place inside the apartment.
Based on the investigation, Carson City special enforcement officers were dispatched Friday night to Las Vegas to detain three persons of interest. Early this morning the team arrived in Vegas, where it arrested Makyla L. Blackmore, 20; Raul Garcia, 22; and Anthony Elliot, 20, as suspects.
Bill Cassell, a Metro police information officer, said the three people arrested in Las Vegas were speaking with detectives as of 3:30 p.m. Saturday. They were expected to be booked into the Clark County Detention Center later in the day.
Carson City officials also have arrested Michael Paul Evans, 23. He is charged with murder, battery with a deadly weapon, burglary, and murder of an older person. Blackmore and Garcia are charged with burglary, and Elliot is charged with murder.
Forensic specialists were still searching McCune's home for more evidence, and said they expect the investigation to be finished early next week. Although four have been arrested and charged, investigators say that the investigation remains open and more suspects may be involved.
Anyone with additional information on this crime are asked to report it to the Carson City sheriff's office at (775) 887-2500.
