LAS VEGAS -- Members of the Violent Crimes Task Force located and arrested an alleged Los Angeles gang member wanted for homicide who had been hiding in Las Vegas.
Earlier this month members of the Task Force received information from the Los Angeles Police Department that Emanuel Lopez, a fugitive from justice, was attempting to hide in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Metro police said members of the Violent Crimes Task Force arrested Emanuel Lopez this week in an area near Charleston and Lamb boulevards and is awaiting extradition back to California.
According to Metro, detectives received information last Friday from Los Angeles police regarding Lopez and five other members of a gang who allegedly beat and shot a rival gang member in the head.
The detectives believed Lopez fled southern California to come to the Las Vegas area where he was hiding with family and friends. Surveillance was established at this location, and Lopez was arrested, with the help of the LVMPD Air Unit and K-9 Detail, without incident as he left a residence.
The Las Vegas Violent Crimes Task Force, is made up of detectives from the Metro, Henderson Police, and special agents from the FBI.
