LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The Nevada Attorney General’s office remains vigilant in its quest to find scammers looking to fraudulently benefit from false workers’ compensation claims.
Douglas Azar’s online biography touts him as “dependable, reliable … accountable.”
The AG’s office is challenging that claim. They say Azar collected thousands of dollars from the system with a workers' compensation claim.
Senior Deputy Attorney General Brian Williams said last year alone, his office saw nearly a half-million dollars in restitution ordered against scammers such as Azar.
Undercover video in Azar’s case shows while that he collected a compensation check, he kept right on working: lifting plywood, picking up items at Home Depot, and operating heavy machinery.
The evidence in this case ended with an order for restitution; Azar left Las Vegas, and says he now lives in California.
