LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Two men are under arrest, charged in the death of a Summerlin woman. The suspects include her husband, who is a Las Vegas firefighter.

George Tiaffay, 40, is accused of beating his wife, Shauna, to death, with help from Noel Stevens, 36.

A city spokesperson confirms George Tiaffay has been a firefighter since October 2002, and as of Wednesday was still employed.

Shauna Tiaffay, 46, was found dead in her Summerlin apartment Sept. 29 as a result of multiple blunt force injuries.

A former neighbor tells News 3 that he was very friendly and involved in the community, but Paula Stokes-Richards, Shauna's sister, says it was a different story behind closed doors.

“Over the years there were several incidences that Shauna told me about regarding verbal abuse,” Stokes-Richards said in a phone interview from Tennessee. “He was very controlling, very manipulative.”

The couple had lived together in Summerlin before they separated.

Katie Bowers, a neighbor, says George came off as a nice guy, very involved in the community.

“It's crazy,” she said. “I couldn’t imagine him doing something like that because he was the head of the neighborhood committee and the neighborhood watch guy, so it's just shocking to hear.”

Stokes-Richards said problems escalated over the past few years. George and Shauna's 8-year-old daughter, Maddie, is left without either parent and in the care of her relatives.

The two suspects have been booked into the Clark County Detention Center. They face multiple charges, including murder with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and robbery.

Anyone with information regarding this homicide is urged to call Metro police at (702) 828-3521.

If you want somebody "deader than a door nail". You do it yourself.

You don't do what this clown did. You don't look around for a murder-for-hire candidate. The old saying still holds true: Three people can keep a secret, if two are dead.

George was a wolf in a firefighter disguised. Firefighters are just as capable of domestic violence as anyone else. One profession does not exempt you from criminal activity or other unsavory acts. I just wish that couple would think, money is not worth destroying the life of your kids. George had a lot to lose in child support and alimony but that's just a small price to pay for the well being of your daughter. Now she will be without a mother and father.
