Airlines are starting to do what car companies and the cable guys have been doing for years, and it's all about convincing you that a bargain is involved.

The newest way to get you to fork over more cash is by bundling, putting fees together in a package and offering them at a discount.

Delta's bundle includes priority boarding, plus 24-hour Wi-Fi for $42.

It's a bit cheaper than if you bought them separately.

American's bundle has priority boarding, a free checked bag and a waiver of the dreaded change fee, all for $68 roundtrip, less than half what you pay for just a ticket change.

Brian Kelly of ThePointsGuy.com, an expert on air travel, says it's all about what to know before you go.

"It's really just about knowing what fees are out there and figuring out how to get around them before you get to the airport," he explains. "Because if you don't do your research, you're going to be fleeced."

Americans spent more than $6 billion on airline fees in 2012, a figure expected to go higher this year even if bundling doesn't work.

I don't know why people like paying those fees. I cannot recall paying a fee to fly, because I fly Southwest Airline. I wonder how much I have saved over the last 10 yeas.
