LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- An amateur video shot by neighbor Brandi Krantz shows police shooting and killing Gulf War veteran Stanley Gibson in his vehicle while surrounded by police cars.
Police responded to a call saying that a man matching Gibson’s description attempted to break into an apartment in an apartment complex near his own off Rainbow and Smoke Ranch.
Police told reporters that Gibson rammed a police car before officers opened fire on the vehicle. In Krantz's full five-minute video, Gibson’s Cadillac is seen stationary while surrounded by police cars for 43 seconds. Gibson’s car’s engine is then heard revving, and billowing smoke rises from under the vehicle, though the car remains stationary.
One minute into the video, gunshots are heard as police who are standing behind the police cars open fire on Gibson's Cadillac, killing Gibson.
Gibson’s wife Rondha said that Gibson was suffering from a brain tumor and posttraumatic stress disorder, and was recently denied medication. He was disoriented, confused and scared, his wife said, and his disability made him think he was home.
