LAS VEGAS -- The Animal Foundation today announced that a special process is in place for the adoption of the 27 dogs and puppies from the Prince & Princess Pet Store fire.

To allow all interested adopters a chance to adopt one of the puppies, the Foundation will launch a special online raffle on Friday, March 7. The starting time will be announced later.

Those interested in adopting one of the rescued pups can purchase raffle tickets for the pet(s) they are interested in adopting for $250 per ticket beginning Friday, March 7 at animalfoundation.com. The raffle will close at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13. Winners will be chosen at random and notified on Friday, March 14.

“We are grateful to (Clark County) District Attorney (Steve) Wolfson for working so diligently to expedite the process so that these dogs, who have already been through so much, can find forever homes as quickly as possible. Additionally, we owe a great deal of gratitude to the County Commission for the compassion they have shown in ensuring a bright future for these pets,” said Christine Robinson, executive director for The Animal Foundation.

“Since this story broke in January, we have received hundreds of calls, emails and messages from interested adopters. We want to allow everyone interested in adopting one of these dogs the opportunity to adopt. A raffle process is the best way to guarantee everyone receives a chance.”

Raffle participants will be required to complete an adoption application when purchasing their tickets, and must also pass an in-person adoption screening before an adoption will be finalized. The Animal Foundation reserves the right to refuse an adoption if potential adopters are unable to meet all adoption requirements.

Because of the overwhelming interest in the puppies, adoptions will be limited to one per household. Funds raised through raffle ticket sales will support The Animal Foundation’s programs and initiatives which benefit more than 40,000 lost, unwanted, and abandoned animals entering the nonprofit’s shelter each year through no fault of their own. No refunds will be issued.

Persons who purchase raffle tickets online and do not win may present their receipt as a certificate valid for the adoption of one animal at The Animal Foundation’s Campus Adoption Center or PetSmart Charities Everyday Adoption Center.

Receipts will be valid through Dec. 31.
