NORTH LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- A North Las Vegas mother is facing more than 30 counts of child neglect and abuse after her 4-year-old daughter was found locked up in her apartment.
According to the police report, this came to light during a routine check by a manager at the Lorna Vista Apartments in the 1200 block of West Cheyenne Avenue.
Police say the little girl was left alone up to 12 hours with no food on 31 different days.
This morning a judge set bail at $620,000 for Laketha Moore. She faces two counts of child abuse and 31 counts of child neglect.
Moore appeared to be hiding her face with her hair and wiping away tears.
According to the police report, Moore says she left her 4-year-old daughter alone when she went to work and sometimes church because she had no babysitter.
She started tying the little girl up after coming home one day and finding things messy.
Moore says she left her daughter with no food because she was a picky eater and probably wouldn't eat it.
When the manager went inside the apartment, the doorknobs of the master bathroom and bedroom were tied together, locking the little girl inside.
She told managers she was hungry and her mother tied her up all the time. Her hair was matted and underwear dirty.
She was taken to UMC, where doctors found bruising showing her ankles has been tied up as well as cuts and bruises all over her body.
Moore's next court appearance is set for 8 a.m. March 29.
