The man wanted in connection with last month's suspected arson fire at a puppy store is on his way from the Chicago suburbs to Las Vegas.
Kirk Bills was arrested in Crown Point, Ind., a week ago by the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and was in the Lake County (Ind.) Jail until Wednesday night.
"He was picked up by a transport company on Wednesday evening," a Lake County Jail dispatcher who did not want to be identified told News 3 late Friday night.
Bills was had no been booked into the Clark County Detention Center as of 11 p.m. Friday.
Bills is wanted in connection with the Jan 27 fire at Prince & Princess Puppy Boutique at 6800 block of South Rainbow. The fire was started with 27 puppies caged inside, but sprinklers and quick action by Clark County firefighters saved the animals.
Store owner Gloria Lee, 35, was indicted Friday by a Clark County grand jury on more than 30 charges in connection with the fire.
The animals are being housed at the Lied Animal Shelter until the court determines their future.
