LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – A California man who pleaded guilty to trying to steal chips from the Bellagio was sentenced today.
Michael Belton, 25, of Nuevo, Calif., received a two- to five-year sentence for his crime this morning at the Regional Justice Center.
Belton was one of three men who used pepper spray to grab more than $100,000 in casino chips on May 19, according to an arrest report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Belton was wrestled to the floor, but his two accomplices remain at large.
In a hushed voice, Belton made a one-sentence statement to the court: "I'm sorry about what I did. It was stupid on my part."
