LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) -- The co-owner of a southwest valley puppy store has apparently proposed a transfer of ownership on the 27 puppies rescued in late January from an alleged arson fire.

Clark County received the claim from Donald Thompson, the estranged husband of Gloria Lee, one of the two charged in setting the Jan. 27 fire.

Dan Kulin, a Clark County spokesman, wrote in an email today that country officials will need to review Thompson's proposal to transfer ownership of the puppies to A Home 4 Spot.

The county news release says: "We have received a request from an attorney claiming to represent Donald Thompson. It appears that Mr. Thompson is proposing to assign ownership of the 27 dogs to a local animal rescue group – A Home 4 Spot.

"At this time we are reviewing this proposal, specifically the ability of all involved to properly and legally take possession of the dogs. It would be inappropriate to say how long this review might take as it has just begun and unforeseen issues may arise."

The animals are being housed at Lied Animal Shelter.

Kulin noted that procedures for transferring ownership would cost the person or entity making the claim more than $10,000 currently and increases about $270 a day ($10 per dog for care, food and shelter).

Kirk Bills is the alleged co-conspirator in the fire at Prince & Princess Puppy Boutique on South Rainbow.
