LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Assemblyman Steven Brooks asked the Nevada Supreme Court to order the Legislature to let him take his seat.

In February, Assembly leaders put Brooks on administrative leave in light of his recent string of controversies.

Those include allegedly threatening Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick and getting into trouble with police over an incident with his estranged wife.

Brooks' petition this morning says the Assembly does not have the power to keep him out because he was duly elected in November.

The legislature has formed a committee to see if Brooks is fit to serve.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said Monday that Brooks will face a felony charge over the argument with his wife that led to his arrest Feb. 10.

Brooks is a nutcase and needs to be locked up before he hurts or kills someone.
