Las Vegas cab driver Michael Boldon was killed in the crash following the strip shooting. Today, Bolden's brother pleaded with Nevada lawmakers to make a change. News 3's Sandra Gonzalez has more on the grieving brother's plea.

LAS VEGAS (KSVN & MyNews3) --
Gun violence hits close to home for one family. Tehran Boldon lost his brother last month in the Strip shooting that ended in a fiery crash. His brother Michael was the cab driver who died at Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard.

One month ago, he would’ve never envisioned himself speaking before lawmakers, but here he was in Las Vegas at a videoconference before a Senate Committee being seen and heard in Carson City.

“I'm one man here speaking for gun control,” said Boldon said on camera.

He was alone in the hearing room in the Grant Sawyer Building among several gun rights advocates listening to a hearing from the Senate judiciary on gun violence.

“Until they understand what it means to lose a family member, I think then they should speak about gun control. They don't know. They did not have to bury their brother because of lax gun laws,” Boldon said.
“You'll never eliminate murder, you'll never eliminate robbery. But there's ways to go about it without taking my right to defend myself away,” said firearms instructor Mike Murray.

“My passion for being here is to make sure that our state legislature under stands that our second amendment rights are foundational to be an American and that they cannot just be chipped away at whenever a tragedy presents itself as an opportunity,” said Vern Brooks, a gun rights advocate.

The informational hearing on gun violence covered the gamut from assault weapons ban, to limits on magazine size, and even tightening gun sales to the mentally unstable.

While nothing was solved, information was given and time was allotted for people to speak, a whole new arena for Tehran Boldon.
“We just want an accountability system. We want less guns on the street. We want less guns in the hands of felons and children and mentally unstable people,” Boldon said.

Just as the automobile is regulated so should firearms be. Weapons should be registered every two years and the owners should be required to have current liability insurances in case their firearm is used in the commission of a crime, has been stolen and used in the commission of a crime or injury or has been sold and used in the commission of a crime and also in the case of an accidental shooting when it is discharged improperly . Gun violence in the United States costs about 12 billion dollars a year according the most recent study. Any responsible gun owner can see a benefit by having insurances. If we Americans must be tested periodically in order to legally drive and have insurance for the vehicle , the same rules should apply to firearms. Currently a blind man can buy a firearm but he can not drive a car. Let us begin to get the proliferation of firearms under some control and I am sure we will begin to see the mortality rate drop. Presently in the United states at least 80 adults and 10 children die from gun violence every day and it isn't until the great state of connecticut new laws behind Sandy Hooks , Arizona 's Gifford shooting that has activated her in a direction she would not have gone and the columbines that anyone speaks out. Gun proponents will say that "law abiding" citizens don"t shoot and kill people but this is false. Many criminals were "law abiding" until they shot someone. The NRA and other 2nd amendment advocates feel that there is not a need for more barriers to gun ownership , no need for more restrictions to citizens obtaining concealed weapons permits and are against more fees and requirements to be thrust upon them I feel the exact opposite as do the other 85% of American citizens. Meanwhile as an American male of African descent, I am 3 times more likely to be shot than other Americans of differant ancestory and still no one can hear my dead brother and his passenger scream bloody murder from the fireball inferno of his ta

Senator Reid HAS to Go ! He is out of touch and has no interest in serving the people of Nevada , our nation or the Democratic Party . His decisions recently have been disgraceful and has slapped us all in the face. 90 % of Americans favor strict, swift gun legislation and on this issue Senator Reid has twisted the knife in the backs of the slain and their victimized families At least ONE American citizen will die EVERY HOUR due to gun violence and Senator Reid has cold feet. If Senator Reid can not stand the heat of battle against the domestic terrorism propelled by weapons of mass destruction and it's NRA minions , then he should offer his Resignation , disavow alliance to the Democratic Party and not claim to represent the people of the United States .

Why are the legal gun owners always targeted? Maybe if Government agencies would do the job they are paid to do by getting criminals off the street permanently, we would not have this problem! It is the fool and not the tool. Sick of everyone deflecting and blaming one thing on another! Lock the repeat offenders up permanently; Gang members, drug dealers, pimps, ho's, hookers, prostitutes, pedophiles, molesters, murders, illegals, etc, etc. But no! The police can not do their jobs, the courts can not do their jobs and I am not sure any Government agency can do their jobs anymore! Add that to the fact that Obama just pardoned 10,000 criminal illegals! This country has turned into one big joke! Baby, coddle and care for the lazy, inept, mentally ill, illegals and the criminals while punishing the hard working, responsible Gun owners! What a freaking joke on TRUE America's. ObamaNation is alive and thriving and it will be the end of a civil society! Count on it!

@ Worromot I would estimate that less than 50% of GUN OWNERS are Responsible. Just because you own one by any means does not make you responsible . If that we're true we would not have stolen guns , accidental shootings, self inflicted gunshot wounds , et al. That does not include the irresponsibility of trade show gun sales, private gun sales, straw gun sales and illegal gun sales or criminally acquired gun sales. I cannot begin to think to estimate how many responsible GUN SELLERS there are. And I absolutely DO NOT believe that selling ASSAULT weapons, high capacity magazines , armor piercing ammo to CIVILIANS is a RESPONSIBLE act and also that our government MUST enact laws to protect the public from such a deadly and terrifying threat and menace to our American society.

Not your BROTHER or MOTHER GOD forbid. Had not it been for the shooting those wheels would not have been set in motion. He right, its time to stop the gun violence, by keeping them out of criminal and the mentally ill hands. 99.9% of gun owners are responsible and they should not be put into the same category with that 1%.
