BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (KSNV MyNews3.com) – FBI agents in Arizona put their search for a missing 8-year-old girl on hold after investigators find a body just a mile from her home in Bullhead City.
Isabella “Bella” Grogan-Cannella disappeared in the overnight hours early Wednesday morning.
Her family holds onto hope that the body found is not their little girl with the tussled blonde hair and big smile.
At this point, police have not confirmed if it is Bella, but the search was put on hold. It is not known whether the body that was found was a child or an adult.
Bullhead City police say Bella vanished from her room. Police were called to her home around 1:30 Tuesday morning. She was last seen when she was tucked into bed a couple hours earlier.
“There were no signs of forced entry or a struggle,” said Bullhead City Police Chief Brian Williamson. “Since there were no witnesses or evidence that an abduction occurred, this incident did not meet criteria for an Amber Alert. However, an abduction has not been ruled out.”
It sparked a massive multiagency, two-day search with more than 100 officers, including the FBI. Around noon Wednesday, they found a body a mile away from her home, but cannot confirm the identity.
Bella's grandmother tells News 3 that in this difficult time, the community has kept them strong.
