Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Bulls have brought in another veteran to their backcourt mix, signing guard Aaron Brooks to an undisclosed contract on Tuesday.

The team also inked forward Doug McDermott, Chicago's first-round selection in this year's draft.

The move to get Brooks came one day after the team announced the re-signing of guard Kirk Hinrich to a reported two-year deal.

Brooks has averaged 11.1 points and 3.4 assists over six NBA seasons and split the 2013-14 campaign between Houston and Denver. In 72 overall games last season, the 29-year-old averaged 9.0 points and 3.2 assists while shooting 38.7 percent from 3-point range.

The speedy 6-footer put up 19.6 points per game during his first tenure with the Rockets in 2009-10, Brooks' third season in the league.

Brooks will provide insurance to a Chicago backcourt that has had 2010-11 NBA MVP Derrick Rose limited to just 10 games by a pair of knee injuries over the past two seasons.

The Bulls got McDermott, the 11th overall pick, in a draft-night deal with the Denver Nuggets. He had an outstanding college career at Creighton, where he led the nation in scoring at a clip of 26.7 points per game during his senior season.

The 2014 National Player of the Year also averaged 7.5 rebounds and left school as one of only eight players in NCAA history to amass more than 3,000 points (3,150). McDermott is also only one of three players to compile at least 3,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in an NCAA career.

"We're very excited about the addition of Doug," Bulls general manager Gar Forman said. "We love the versatility of his game and his ability to shoot. He's a fit for our team and organization on many different levels."
