Tempe, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Arizona Cardinals have come to terms on a five-year contract extension with cornerback Patrick Peterson.

The 24-year-old sent a message via Twitter that his deal was worth $70 million with $48 million guaranteed.

The deal keeps the three-time Pro Bowl selection under contract through the 2020 season.

The fifth overall pick in 2011 out of LSU, Peterson started all 16 games last season and registered 40 tackles, three interceptions and a career-high 30 passes defensed.

Peterson has been selected to the Pro Bowl twice at cornerback (2012-13) and once as a kick returner (2011) while also earning first-team All-Pro honors at both cornerback (2013) and kick returner (2011).

Peterson has started all 48 games at cornerback during his first three seasons and has 12 interceptions.
