New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Chicago White Sox slugger Jose Abreu was named both the American League Player and Rookie of the Month again on Monday.
The 27-year-old first baseman became the first player ever to win both awards in the same month twice in one season. He also did it in April, joining Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig as the only players ever to be named the top player after their first month in the majors.
Abreu was also named Rookie of the Month in June and is the fourth player to win the award at least three times.
He batted .374 in July with a .432 on-base percentage, six homers, 11 doubles and 19 RBI in 25 games.
