City offers free sand, bags for those who may face flooding

LAS VEGAS -- If you believe you may need sandbags to protect your property, you are encouraged to obtain them prior to the rain so you will not need to venture into flood waters to get them.

Sandbags are available for free along with free sand outside the City of Las Vegas East Service Center. The sand pile is located on North Mojave Road, across from Lied Animal Shelter. There is also a sand bag filler; people will need to have their own shovels.

The sand pile is at the three-way stop at Romenus Drive and Sauer Drive), which is behind the Rainbow Library on North Buffalo Drive and West Cheyenne Avenue. Sand bags, sand and a filler are available at the site; they will need to take their own shovels.
