LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) – The Clark County School Board will consider a proposal to put a $5.3 billion bond issue before voters.

The bond proposal presented Thursday, would mean a property tax increase. It would be about $74 a year for a $100,000 home.

The district says some of its older schools are in need of major repairs as well as upgrades to technology and equipment.

It would also build about nine schools to ease overcrowding.

Four former Nevada first ladies have signed on to help with the effort, which they say will be important to Nevada's kids. The group includes Dawn Gibbons, who is director of community relations for KSNV-TV.
